Information involved
You can browse stories without an account. If you sign up, your display name, email address, and password are sent to Supabase Auth to create and secure your account. The site does not currently offer payments or a newsletter signup.
If you write an article, its title, summary, formatted text, category, cover image, review status, feedback, and account identifier are stored in Supabase. Drafts and articles in review are visible to you and super admins; published articles are visible to visitors. Cover images are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket.
When you load a page, basic request information such as your IP address, browser details, the requested page, and the time of the request may be processed by the service that hosts the website to deliver it and keep it secure.
How information is used
Request information is used to display pages and support the operation and security of the site. Account information is used to sign you in, confirm your email when required, and help you reset your password. Article information is used to save drafts and display published articles. If you choose to contact the team through a channel published on the Contact page, the information you send can be used to respond to your message.
The current site does not use account information to create reading profiles or process purchases.
Third-party services and links
Account registration, sign-in, password recovery, and article storage use Supabase. Sample story images are loaded from Unsplash. Loading those images or a legacy cover image supplied by an author can send standard request information to its provider. Some sample story links take you to Wikipedia for background reading. External sites handle information under their own privacy policies.
The website hosting provider may process technical request data on the site's behalf. The app itself does not provide a reader-data sharing feature.
Your choices
You can browse without creating an account, sign out when you finish, and choose whether to follow external links. Browser settings can be used to control cookies and other site storage; blocking session cookies will prevent account sign-in from working.
